Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. We provide practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care. This site is the result of a merge with Cancerbacup. It is really excellent and yet among the facts and help there is a gentleness which is comforting.

Maggie's Centre

Maggie's Centre is a place for people who have experienced cancer and for their families and friends. The site now has a most professional appearance and is a helpful and informative site.

AICR

The Association for International Cancer Research supports research into the causes, mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer. Links are very broad based. I like being able to browse so world wide. Some links to medical facts can be a little disturbing, so watch where you go.

CCT

The Cancer Counselling Trust serves cancer patients, their families, friends and care givers who seek counselling to help them through the difficult issues of a cancer diagnosis. Support can be offered if a friend or relative has died of cancer. There is a commitment to the provision of counselling to all who require it and no one is refused because of an inability to pay.

Chemocare

Chemocare.com gives good advice on care during and after chemotherapy. This covers managing side effects, eating well, chemotherapy drugs, and complementary medicines among other useful topics. There is a place for people to give their experiences.

SPA

The Scottish Partnership Agency charity aims to improve and extend the care and support available in Scotland for people with progressive conditions such as cancer. The web site explains palliative care and provides information about services.

WCRF

World Cancer Research Fund (WCRFUK) is dedicated to saving lives by funding cancer research and providing education programmes that expand our understanding of the importance of our food and lifestyle choices in the cancer process.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer

Breakthrough Breast Cancer is a charity committed to fighting breast cancer through research and awareness. This is a very pretty site with search facilities, awareness raising, news and some great links leading to Health and Cancer sites, General sites and to firms which are Supporters.

Marie Curie Cancer Care

Marie Curie Cancer Care challenges cancer through its work in care and research. The charity provides care for thousands of cancer patients in their own homes through hospices across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Pancreatica.org

This non-profit organization that offers a free web site, which is full of information and clinical trials for people with pancreatic cancer, their loved ones and physicians. Of note, a number of directories have selected this as the top pancreatic cancer site.

American Cancer Society

There is a great selection of helpful information on this site and it is very easy to use. The articles are most helpful wherever one lives.

CancerSavvy

This is a site with really personal help. I have listened to Cheryle Currier's and also to others and can recommend the site as a place to feel that you are not at all alone.

Nutritionist Resource

This is a very practical site. Here you find facts, articles, events and a great deal of common sense. A postcode link to finding a nutritionist is particularly helpful.
